Laurence Ghafar

Laurence is an experienced professional with a wealth of broad roles in leadership within the pharmaceutical industry. In his current position, Laurence holds a pivotal role in the Data Management Extended Leadership team, where he oversees various global initiatives for MSD. Based at the MSD Zurich hub in Switzerland, he serves as a linchpin in the organization's operations, including spearheading the Data Management Business Excellence Network Sponsorship in the Innovation, Change Management & Transformation domain. Laurence actively participates and leads multiple global, cross functional strategic projects, with a primary focus on Innovation & Value Realization. As a qualified Design Thinking coach, he brings a unique mindset to his work.

Having spent over a decade at Roche UK before joining MSD, Laurence brings a wealth of experience from various leadership roles. His journey at Roche took him from the UK to Basel, Switzerland, where he honed his skills and leadership acumen and supported many transformational projects, including the design and role-out of a Role Evolution transformation initiative.

Laurence also maintains line management responsibilities for some contributors at the Zurich DMC, serving as a senior mentor and coach, fostering a culture of growth and excellence. With a degree in Medical Engineering, Laurence combines his technical expertise with a strategic vision, making him a driving force in MSD's global operations.

Having 17 Years of core Data Management experience with different Data Management roles in large CROs. Prior to joining ICON, I was associated with ICON-IBT for 2.5 years, IQVIA, Bioclinica and Covance.

Currently, working as a Senior Manager and regionally based out in Bangalore, India. Along with my roles and responsibilities, facilitate and supports unmet governance needs due to faster growth of the portfolio than the anticipation.

An expert leader in building effective, committed and highly motivated teams for the organization having a strong Operational Excellence experience, Project, People Management and Early Clinical Portfolio Management across multiple Customer accounts delivering significant business value.

Quite passionate about Employee Engagement Initiative and a regional lead for Networking Organization for Women (NOW) which is one of the DIB community which encourages and empowers women budding leaders by providing mentoring program with respect to career guidance and support within ICON and member for HBA (Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association) from APAC region.

Her expertise spans from early development stages to the successful market introduction of products. As a leader driving value and innovation, Tina possesses broad cross-functional knowledge encompassing capability improvement, organizational design, data-driven transformation, and business strategy development and implementation. Her ability to design and deploy strategic transformation initiatives has been instrumental in achieving organizational objectives and driving positive change.

Tina holds undergraduate degrees in Communication and Nursing, complemented by an MS in Business and Human Relations and an MBA in Strategic Leadership. Her commitment to professional development is evident through multiple certifications, including Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Change Management Specialist, and Prosci Certified Change Management Practitioner.

Currently I am leading the business implementation for STARfish which is the new tool being implemented within Roche for clinical safety data reconciliation. I bring to this project expertise in Safety operations, Quality & Compliance and Product leadership.
