Overview
Every success of high performing organization is based on people. Although Clinical Data Management is usually connotated with high quality data, sophisticated systems and databases, people make the difference also in this area. Clinical Data Managers (CDMs) have been going through massive evolution moving towards digital solutions. Understanding data collection and validation becomes more and more critical study junctures to steer the team’s efforts in the right direction. CDMs need to meet appropriate expectations, set standards for data quality and adapt to the rapidly changing technology. The session would be based on inspirational, 10-15 minutes stories of 3 speakers focusing on what makes them successful contributors in Clinical Data Management world. We would hear about their educational background, they career pathways, lessons learnt looking back and upskilling needed looking forward to transforming from Clinical Data Manager to Clinical Data Scientist. The important aspect would be also to answer the question what mindset makes them motivated to keep up with ever-changing and dynamic environment of Clinical Data Management.

I have been working in Clinical Data Management for nearly 10 years. I have started as Clinical Data Manager in MSD directly after PhD in Chemistry. Through years of experience in Data Management I have served several roles supporting Early and Late Stage Oncology Clinical Trials, Training and Processes, Innovations. In my current role of Global Data Operations Therapeutic Area Lead I am responsible for E2E Data Management for Late Stage Clinical Trials in Cardio-metabolic disorders. I am passionate about collaboration between Data Management and field operations and Diversity&Inclusion.

Sam Ryan is a seasoned professional with an MSc in Pharmaceutical Medicine and over 18 years of industry experience. Currently serving as Senior Director of Clinical Data Science at ICON, he has made substantial contributions within ICON's Pharma Development and Strategic Solutions divisions. Sam's expertise spans program management and project delivery in Clinical Data Management/Data Science, with a notable focus on driving transformational change for ICON's partners.

I graduated from the University of Science and Technology (UST) in Krakow where I majored Biomedical Engineering and Quality Management. At the beginning of my professional career I worked for the Central Bone Marrow and Cord Blood Donor Registry. Then I decided to start a new adventure with clinical trials in MSD Poland as a Clinical Data Manager in Oncology and Neurology therapeutic areas. Currently I am fulfilling a role of BPM Evidence Delivery Data Management Associate Director in AstraZeneca.

Ms. Olberding has been working in data management for over 20 years. She is currently the head of Operational Excellence in Global Data Managment at Merck & Co, Inc, NJ USA where she oversees process, learning and compliance for 2900 data management employees across the globe. She has extensive experience in project management, risk management, continuous improvement, privacy, and compliance. She is the data management process owner. Megan has also supported numerous global health authority GCP inspections.
