HL7® Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources - FHIR®: Web Technology Applied to Healthcare Data

LIVE WEBINAR · June 20, 2024, 08:00 AM PDT | 11:00 AM EST | 17:00 CET | 21:30 IST
HL7® Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources - FHIR®: Web Technology Applied to Healthcare Data
The webinar will provide an engaging non-technical explanation of the FHIR standard and how FHIR creates computable data objects that can be used to implement interoperability across a broad range of use cases.
The webinar will present a broad range of use cases that indicate the flexibility and adaptability of the FHIR data model to create semantic interoperability.
Overview
This webinar will bring the audience to an understanding of the HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and its current implementation globally as a next generation data standard. Audience members who were familiar with the introduction of FHIR as a draft standard in 2011 and those who have recently become aware of the standard will gain a conceptual understanding of the healthcare data model underlying FHIR and how it is applied to a broad range of use cases in healthcare.

The webinar will cover the evolution of the FHIR standard and the adoption of the standard to allow access to data in different EHRs and other electronic systems by providing an API (Application Programming Interface) that is interoperable across different proprietary systems.
The webinar will describe the adoption of the FHIR standard in regulation in a number of countries and will highlight the use of FHIR in use cases for clinical care, decision support, patient access and clinical and translational research.

Participants will become familiar with the HL7 FHIR data standard and how it is different from previous healthcare data standard by gaining a conceptual understanding of FHIR technology. They will also develop an understanding of how FHIR can be leveraged to drive healthcare innovation, both by technical developers and by others in clinical care and in research who have an understanding of healthcare workflows and healthcare data.
What You'll Learn
Audience participants after the webinar will be able to
  • Describe how FHIR provides a flexible data model to represent data relevant to healthcare
  • Describe how the FHIR data model can be adapted to a broad range of use cases in healthcare delivery, public health, research, and patient engagement.
  • Explain how the FHIR data standard enables semantic interoperability
  • Describe the inclusion of the FHIR standard in regulation in the US and other jurisdictions
