Join us on January 25 for SCDM's annual State of the CDM Industry webinar as we explore the transformation of Clinical Data Management and the emerging field of Clinical Data Science.

Patrick Nadolny, the Global Head of Clinical Data Management at Sanofi and SCDM Chair for 2024 will kick off the webinar, sharing his insights on the industry's future. Following his presentation, we'll dive into a dynamic panel discussion with esteemed speakers from the European Commission and the European Medicines Agency .

Following the 2024 SCDM Chair Address, Andrzej Rys from DG SANTE and currently the EU Visiting Fellow at St Antony's College, University of Oxford, and  Andrew Thomson from the Data, Analytics, and Methodology TaskForce at the European Medicines Agency, will join the virtual stage for an engaging conversation on the evolving industry landscape, discussing key trends, challenges, and opportunities. Carol Schaffer, Director, Program Lead at Pfizer and SCDM Vice-Chair will tune in after the panel discussion to share important developments around SCDM Education.

Patrick Nadolny

Patrick Nadolny has over 30 years of industry experience across pharmaceutical, device and biologics as well as technology development. He is a pragmatic leader focusing on technology, innovation, strategic planning, change management, and the setup of new capabilities. In addition to his SCDM Chair role, he leads the SCDM innovation committee, which recently released 3 reflection papers on the evolution of Clinical Data Management toward Clinical Data Science.
Carol Schaffer
Director and Program Lead in the Vaccines therapeutic area and Clinical Data Sciences
Pfizer

Carol Schaffer is a Director and Program Lead in the Vaccines therapeutic area, Clinical Data Sciences at Pfizer and is currently member of the SCDM Board of Trustees and Board Secretary. She has over 30 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, starting as a research protein biochemist and moving into the Clinical Data Management arena in 2000. She has experience in both Early and Late Phase clinical development, both in project management as well as line management. Her therapeutic areas of experience are in Cardiovascular, Metabolism, Inflammation, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, Rare Diseases, Ophthalmology and Vaccines.Carol has expertise in project oversight as well as global team leadership and governance. Carol holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biology (specializing in Biotechnology) from William Paterson University.
Andrzej Rys
Principal Scientific Advisor at the European Commission & EU Visiting Fellow
St Anthony’s College, University of Oxford

A clinical radiologist and public health doctor by training and practice in Krakow and abroad, Andrzej was founder and director of School of Public Health at the Jagiellonian University (1991-1997), director of Krakow’s city health department (1997-1999), Deputy Minister of Health in his native Poland (1999-2002). 
He is the founder (2003-2006) of the Jagiellonian University’s Centre for Innovation, Technology Transfer and University Development (CITTRU), where he founded Poland’s first Life Science Park and Krakow Life Science Cluster.  He negotiated the health chapter of Polish accession to the EU and has served as a senior official at the European Commission Health Department in Brussels and Luxembourg from 2006 to the present day. 
He was a member of EMA Management Board and ECDC MB and member of Innovative Medicines Initiative (and IHI) GB. 

Andrew Thomson
Statistician, Methodology Taskforce
European Medicines Agency

Andrew Thomson is a statistician in the Taskforce dedicated to Data, Analytics and Methodology at the European Medicines Agency. He provides methodological advice and guidance across all stages of development, and across all therapeutic areas. He is the Regulatory Chair for ICH E6 Annex 2, which covers trials with decentralised and pragmatic elements, as well as those utilising Real World Evidence. He also is the lead of the statistics subgroup and Regulatory Chair of ICH E11A on pediatric extrapolation,. Before joining EMA, he headed the Epidemiology Unit at the MHRA, and was also previously a Statistical Assessor within the Licensing Division of the MHRA.
