Ground reports on transformation of departments and roles from CDM to Clinical Data Sciences
  • Session Type: Panel Discussion
  • Session Level: Intermediate
Overview
Clinical Data Management is certainly moving rapidly towards Clinical Data Science! The famous 5 Vs of data - Volume, Variety, Velocity, Veracity and Value are redefining the approach to Clinical data management. COVID pandemic drove numerous trials that had started in usual formats to be converted to various models of decentralized clinical trials. Trial teams amended the protocols to include a larger portion to go remote with lots of data being collected via varied sources including wearables and devices. It leads to increase in the 5 Vs of data in these trials. The data sources expanded at a pace that's never seen before.

With this change and the resultant increase in use of creative technology solutions, the need for updated data science skills has evolved rapidly. Many organizations have rebranded their teams to clinical data sciences as well. There are conversations on application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to various processes of data management and how that may transform into the function of data sciences.

We will present a panel of industry leaders to discuss their real stories of transforming roles and departments of the Clinical Data Management into Clinical Data Sciences. We will speak about the required new skills, new perspectives, enhanced technologies and will also touch on how the typical departments working models are evolving so rapidly. Our panel will also touch upon the risks, challenges and benefits of this transformation.
